The Ardent Early Warning System uses predictive analytics to help schools intervene early, ensuring no student is left behind due to academic or social challenges.
Overview
The EWS analyzes student data weekly, identifying subtle patterns that may lead to academic failure, chronic absenteeism, or eventual dropout. By surfacing these risks weeks or months in advance, counselors and teachers can implement support strategies before a situation becomes critical.
Risk predictions are indicators, not labels. A high-risk score is a signal that a student may benefit from extra support. It is not a judgment on a student's potential or character. Risk scores are strictly confidential and are visible only to authorized teachers, counselors, and administrators.
Risk Dimensions
The system calculates three independent risk scores, each ranging from 0.0 (Low Risk) to 1.0 (Critical Risk).

Confidentiality and Ethics
- Internal Use Only: Risk scores are never surfaced on report cards or shown to parents and students. They are designed as a diagnostic tool for staff.
- Anonymized Processing: The predictive models operate on behavior patterns and anonymized IDs, ensuring unbiased analysis.
- Encrypted Notes: Any counseling notes or intervention plans created in response to a flag are encrypted and accessible only to designated welfare officers.
Intervention Workflow
When a student is flagged as "High Risk":
- Notification: The class teacher and school counselor receive an automated alert.
- Review: The staff reviews the student's holistic profile (grades, attendance, health logs).
- Action: An intervention plan (e.g., remedial classes, family meeting, or counseling) is logged within the platform.
- Monitoring: The system tracks the student's progress to see if the risk score decreases following the intervention.
